Redesign and Updates

The website has recently undergone a redesign. I feel that this makes it a bit more modern looking, while keeping a creative edge to it.

If you haven\’t checked it out (or haven\’t looked recently), the layout has changed quite a bit.

But, enough about the website…

The illustrator is working hard on updating the Larks images, and I\’m really excited to see where they are going! They are fabulous at their job, and I expect to have great things coming soon that will help reimagine the characters.

Additionally, a developmental and line editor is helping out to go over the novel, helping me out by asking about plot holes, characters, character arcs, and all that fun stuff a writer has to go through. While it\’s a long period, the hope is to complete the book edits within a month or so. Then, it\’s time for public relations and marketing!

The Past 10 Days!

The past 10 days have been really exciting for me and this novel. I\’ve reached out to some traditional publishers and am awaiting to hear from them.

I\’ve had a few individuals read over the opening of the book, and they all came back with really, really positive reviews. So, it\’s going in the right direction!

Additionally, some new concept art has been done on the main characters and on the cover art for the book. It\’s coming along nicely, and I can\’t wait to show you all!

So, while it appears that not much is going on externally, there is a TON of stuff going on in the background.

Additionally, the Shay Lark Series Facebook page has exploded! It has gained over 300 followers in the past week! That is fantastic!! If you haven\’t followed yet, you might want to do so. There is also the Instagram page and Twitter feed if you want to keep track of all things Shay Lark.

So, the phrase for this post is simple: stay tuned!!

And Just Like That…

The first draft of Shay Lark and the Silver Skull is complete!

Pop the champagne. Eat a big steak. All those other fun things that I can do with this draft finished.

Of course, my editor will come back with changes, but that\’s to be expected. No one ever gets the 1st draft flawless. (But hey, it could happen!)

So, stay tuned to this blog or to any of the social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) to be the first to hear when the next phase of the book is complete!

2 Chapters to Go!

That\’s right. 2 chapters to go! It\’s so close I can finally see the finish line!

Thank you to everyone who has been encouraging me on this fantastic (and LONG) journey. It\’s been great, and I can\’t wait to see it out there for everyone to read.

So, stay tuned, as I\’ll hand over the manuscript to an editor for review and rewrites. After that, it\’s time to publish!

I\’ll be self-publishing (at this moment), so it\’ll most likely go through Amazon. I\’ll paste the link when it\’s up.

Coming Down to the Wire!

Hello readers!

i\’m closing in on completing the first full draft of Shay lark and the silver skull! i\’ll be sending it off to an editor soon, so it\’s getting really real. 🙂

Let me just say it\’s been quite an adventure, having started way back in November 2022 with the naWriMo challenge. (if you don\’t know what that is, check out the website)

i actually had the idea for the shay lark character way back in january 2019, but it took me a while to really hone in on what i wanted to do with her. i think this book really sets her up to be a strong, confident teenage girl, and hopefully as a role model for those that can relate to her and her story.

anyway, i\’ll get back to writing, as i\’m down to the last couple chapters. i\’m ecstatic that i will soon get to share with y\’all everything about shay lark, teen adventurer!
